Charles was a son of James William Wilson and Mary Catherine Fallis (or Fallas). He was baptized a member of the LDS Church on 15 October 1848. He married Mary Farrow on Feb 7, 1851 at Hazelrigg, England and they had three sons. The family emigrated to the U.S. and arrived in Utah on 4 Sep 1859 as members of the G. Rowley Handcart Co. They had one child in Salt Lake City, and then moved to Goshen where another child was born. During the Indian wars, the residents of Goshen were moved to Santaquin for their safety. While there, Charles was accidentally shot and killed with his own shotgun while he was either packing or unpacking the family's belongings. His wife was expecting her sixth child at the time of his death. Charles was buried at Santaquin but the location of his grave is not known because there are no sexton records available from that long ago. His children were Hyrum Lorenzo, James William, Thomas Wallice, Mary Elizabeth, Charles M., and Nicholas Farrow Wilson.
