Roger Preston married by about 1643 Martha _____, born about 1622 (on 19 June 1666, "Martha Holt" deposed "aged about forty-four years"). She married (2) at Andover on 21 May 1666 NICHOLAS HOLT {1635, Newbury}. They probably had 7 children: Thomas,(probably) Mary Ingersoll, (probably) Elizabeth Henfield, Samuel, Jacob, John, & Levi.
Nicholas Holt married (3) Andover 21 May 1666 Martha (_____) Preston, widow of ROGER PRESTON {1635, Ipswich}. She died at Andover on 21 March 1702/3.
There were no recorded children of this marriage.
There was another Elizabeth Preston in early Essex County, who cannot be connected with the family of Roger Preston. On 25 March 1656, Ipswich Court ordered "William Bingly and Elizabeth Preston, for fornication, to be whipped, he twenty stripes and she twelve, or pay a fine;" on 30 September 1656, "witnesses in the case of William Bingly and Elizabeth Preston to be paid by the former;" on 21 June 1658, "Elizabeth, daughter of Elizabeth Preston," was born at Newbury; m. Newbury 27 February 1659[/60?] William Bingly. Roger Preston and his children had no known connection with Newbury. Also, this Elizabeth would have been born in the mid-1630s, several years earlier than any of the known children of Roger Preston. The evidence for including the Elizabeth Preston who married William Henfield as a daughter of Roger is much stronger than for this earlier Elizabeth.
