MEADE COUNTY MESSENGER OBITUARY - 1968
Funeral services were held Friday, December 27, 1968 at 10:00 a.m. for Mr. Joseph Edward Barr, 70 years old who died December 24th at his home in Rhodelia. Services were from St. Theresa Church conducted by Father Robert A. Brown. Interment followed in the church cemetery, directed by the Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Charles Redmon, James Redmon, Norman Greenwell, Mike Popham, Alva Morgan, and Mertis Morgan. Mr. Barr was born June 28, 1898 in Meade County, a son of Charles C. Barr and Sarah H. Vessels Barr. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna M. Barr of Louisville; 4 sons, Joseph Leon Barr and Robert A. Barr of Rhodelia; Francis Edward Barr, Payneville, Stephen A. Barr, Louisville; 4 step-sons, Henry L. McMahan, Mt Washington, KY, Joseph E. McMahan, Valley Station, Jacob E. McMahan, Louisville, William R. McMahan, Quantico, VA; 1 stepdaughter, Mrs. Mary Catherine Knott of Louisville; 11 grandchildren and 1 brother, Peter L. Barr of Chicago, IL. Rosary service was held Thursday, Dec. 26th 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
