Leah, born in Princeton, TX, on November 8, 1901, was the daughter of Charles Edward "Ed" & Sarah Ellen (Preston) Grace. She married Joe Lewis on February 23, 1923.

Leah, age 45 yrs., 7 months, & 7 days, died in Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman, TX, on Sunday, June 15, 1947, from carcinoma of the stomach.

Mrs. Leah Lewis, Wife of Joe Lewis Passed Away Sunday

Mrs. Leah Lewis, age 45 years, wife of Joe Lewis, well known and popular game ranger, passed away Sunday evening in a local hospital in Sherman, Texas. The family has lived in the Hendrix community for the past thirty years, and are prominent in the affairs of that section of Bryan county.

Funeral services were held Friday. Services were held in the Yuba Baptist church of which she had been a faithful member since childhood. Rev. J. D. Quick officiated. Burial was in the Yarnaby Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Robert Dobbins, Scott Carter, Fred Turner, Kenneth Qualls, John Dyson, and Joe Grain.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of Gus Pool & Son. Besides the husband, Mrs. Lewis is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grace; four brothers: Ted Grace, Dewey Grace, Roy Grace, all of Hendrix, and John Frederick Grace of Portland, Arizona; five sisters: Mrs. John Lewallen of Karma; Mrs. Webb Compton of Hendrix; Mrs. Walter Swindle of Albany; Mrs. Henry Tatum and Mrs. Amel Smith of California.

Mrs. Lewis was born in Princeton, Texas, on November 8, 1901. With her parents, she moved to Yuba when a child and has lived there since.

She was united in marriage to Joe Lewis on February 23, 1923. Early in life she united with the Baptist church and has lived a consistent Christian life.
