Mitilda is a first generation American. It's possible that her mother was born here but had ot have been conceived in Soctland since her father died at sea enroute to America.
Matilda then married Harvey J. Bates about 1831. Harvey died in September 1840. Coincedently, Mitilda's older sister Hanna also died around this time (between 1840 and 1841). Hanna had married Rawlins R. Johnson some time around 1820.
We know that Matilda and Harvey Bates had at least one child.
I. Frances Marena Bates, b. July 10, 1832, d. April 23, 1869.
Matilda eventuall married Hanna's widower Rawlings R. Johnson.
Buried in Nettle Carrier Creek Cemetery is one McDonnold Johnson 12/27/1854 to 07/27/1880 He is listed as the 5th child of Matilda Carlock and Rawlings R. Johnson.
