Lillie was my step-grandmother, but she always treated my sister and I like we belong to her through blood instead of law. She adored my parents as well, and made my dad's stepfather, Johnnie bring her the 30 miles to our house as often as possibe. She loved my dad's grilled hamburgers. Most of my memories of Lillie involve her big hugs and kisses. Colon cancer took Lillie Mae away from us much too soon.
