Funeral services for Abi Ann Abert will be held on Monday, February 9, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford with Pastor Olga Hard officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial funds have been established with the Arkansas Valley Hospice, First United Methodist Church or the local Alzhiemer's Chapter and they can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Abi died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford. Abi Ann Abert was born July 12, 1927 in Rocky Ford to Henry Abert, Jr. and Amelia Kahl Abert. After graduating Rocky Ford High School in 1947 and after the death of her father, she began working to help support younger members of the family.

In the early fifties, she worked as a secretary for the Rocky Ford Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Valley Fair. She was most proud of working with businesses to bring in the Fryingpan Arkansas Valley Project. In the mid fifties, she began working for the Colorado Employment Service, where she retired after 33 year of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister: Alma Abert; a brother: Donald Abert; and a nephew: Henry Wayne (Butch) Abert.

Abi is survived by her brother: Larry (Donna) Abert of Rocky Ford; sisters: Dorothy Abert of Rocky Ford and Connie (Lance) Aschermann of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law: Betty Abert of Rocky Ford. She is also survived by 4 nephews: Darren (Cindy) Abert and Bryon (Penny) Abert both of Rocky Ford, Curtis Abert of Colorado City and Brent (Tanya) Abert of Loveland; 2 nieces: Debbie Copp and Carol Aschermann both of Indianapolis, IN and 3 great nephews and 7 great nieces.

Casketbearers will be Darren Abert, Bryon Abert, Curtis Abert, Brent Abert, and 2 great nephews, Lane Abert and Tyler Abert. Honorary casketbearers will be Debbie Copp and Carol Aschermann.
