Dorothy was born a twin in Rocky Ford, CO on November 12, 1930, the daughter of the late Henry Jr. and Amelia (Kahl) Abert. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1948.
After graduation she entered the work force for the next 40 years. Her first job was at Fenlason Agency. She then worked at G & K Implement, June Chevrolet, Rocky Ford National Bank and retired from the Empire State Bank. She was devoted to her widowed mother and helped raise her younger siblings.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford.
She is survived by: Brother: Larry husband of Donna Abert of Rocky Ford, Co.; Sister: Connie wife of Lance Ascherman of Indianapolis, IN; Sister-in-law: Betty Abert of Rocky Ford, CO; Nephew: Darren husband of Cindy Abert of Rocky Ford, CO; Nephew: Bryon Abert husband of Penny of Rocky Ford, CO; Nephew: Curtis Abert of Colorado City, CO; Nephew: Brent husband of Tanya Abert of Loveland, CO; Niece: Debbie Copp of Indianapolis, IN; Niece: Carol Ascherman of Indianapolis, IN. 3 great nephews and 7 great nieces
She was preceded in death by her sisters: Alma Abert & Abi Abert; Twin Brother: Donald Abert; Nephew: Henry Wayne (Butch) Abert
Funeral Services will be at the First United Methodist Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 24th, with Rev. Olga Hard officiating. Friends are invited to sign the register book on Thursday from 10 AM until 5 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Family request donations to the Arkansas Valley Hospice 118 W. 4th La Junta, CO 81050 or First United Methodist Church 301 W. Washington Rocky Ford, CO 81067. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
