On Saturday, August 21, Mrs. Alexander Drake, died at her home in Elkhart, Ind., of typhoid fever after a brief illness, being one of thirty-five victims of this disease in that city. The remains were brought here to the home of her parents near this city Tuesday and the funeral held in her old home, conducted by Rev. Briggs, of Herman, Ind. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and neighbors of the family.
Minnie Chase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.L. Chase was born at the old homestead in the brick house where her parents now reside, and grew up in this vicinity where she was always highly esteemed. She was the wife of Prof. Alexander Drake, superintendent of the city schools of Elkhart, and the many floral tributes received indicate the esteem in which she was held. She leaves besides her husband two children, Miss Leah, aged 18 and Jeanette, aged 4 years.
