Leah May Drake Stahr, wife of Dr. D. M. Stahr of Piqua, Ohio, both former residents of Elkhart, died in the hospital at Piqua at 7:30 this morning after a long period of failing health. She was taken to the hospital August 27.

Burial will be in Rice cemetery, Elkhart, Friday afternoon, following a graveside service to be conducted by the Rev. Dr. John C. ?? of the First Presbyterian church of Piqua of which Mrs. Stahr was an active member for many years. A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church at Piqua. The funeral party is expected to ???? Rice cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday. Funeral director, J. C. Green and ? will have charge.

Surving beside the husband are a son, Capt. Paul Herbert Stahr, and a daughter-in-law, Janet Walker Stahr, both students at the University of

Mrs. Leah Stahr
Dies At Piqua

PIQUA, Sept. 10 - Leah Drake Stahr, 55, died at 7:40 a. m. today in Piqua Memorial hospital, after an illness of several years. She had been in hospital two weeks.

Mrs. Stahr was the wife of Dr. Damon M. Stahr, Osteopathic physician of 819 Caldwell street.

Burial will take place at Elkhart, Ind. There will be a funeral service at Presbyterian church here Thursday, but arrangements have not been completed.

Born Sept. 1, 1891, at Memence, Illinois, Mrs. Stahr was the daughter of Ellis H. and Minnie Chase Drake.

She lived in Indianapolis while her father was principal of Shortbridge high school and in Elkhart, Ind., while her father was superintendent of schools there.

She attended Chicago university and Northwestern university and was gifted as a pianist.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church and had served as president of the Philathea class of the church. She was a member of the Columbian club, and served as president from 1938 to 1940. S

he was active in Red Cross work and during World I handled all Red Cross publicity in Piqua. She also was an active Red Cross worker during World War II.

She was identified with the work of the YWCA.

She had lived In Piqua since her marriage May 6, 1915.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Paul H. Stahr, a captain In the Air Forces during World War II and now studying at University of Michigan, and her stepmother, Mrs. William R. Fox, of Kalamazoo, Mich.

Her father died while he was superintendent of the Kalamazoo, Mich., public schools.
