Dolsie and Cecil were both graduates of Weaubleau High School and of Southwest Missouri (Springfield) College. Both taught in rural schools in St. Clair and Hickory Counties and high school at Rich Hill, Bates CO MO.

Dolsie Lee Shelten was born in Hickory County on March 23, 1902, the eighth of ten children born to Joseph S. Shelten and Charlotte (Allen) Shelten.
Dolsie was saved and baptized at Tucker Branch by Rev. Thomas Crance June 26, 1927. He later became a member of Butcher Church of God.
On January 17 1925, Dolsie was united in marriage to Cecil Hemphill. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this year.
Preceding Dolsie in death are his parents, brothers and sisters Jim Shelten, Leona Baxter, Orlie Shelten, Elva Strahan, Emery and Delbert Shelten. Surviving are his wife, Cecil of the home, three sisters, Vangy Murphy, Holden, Nola Cauthon, Osceola, Emma Reno Wheatland, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dolsie graduated from Southwest Missouri State University and taught some 20 years.
Dolsie spent his entire life in the Butcher Community. He passed away February 23 at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 25 days in the Sac-Osage Hospital after a lingering illness. He will be sadly missed by friends and relatives.
