Earl Henry Ottley passed away peacefully October 1, 1991 at his dream home in Murray, Utah.

Born January 25, 1910 in South Cottonwood to Edward Charles and Irene Litson Ottley. He spent his entire life in musical activities for the LDS Church, starting at age 10 as a priesthood organist and continuing the remainder of his life. He was a choir director for 57 years as well as singing or playing the organ at innumerable funerals. He was a member of the Tabernacle Choir from 1947-1958. Taught private vocal lessons since 1946, part of the time at MCune School of Music. He also gave piano instruction during the depression, walking an eight mile circuit to various homes. He was director of the Thiokol Chorus for three years and the Bel Canto Ladies Chorus for 18 years during his sojurn in Logan where he moved in 1961. He was a worker in various capacities for the US Government, Sugar Beet Investigation, starting in 1936 and continuing until his retirement as a research technician. His musical activities continued on his return to Murray in 1984 where he was made the director of the South Cottonwood 8th Ward Choir and later as Sunday School organist. Much of his spare time was spent in his yard where he raised beautiful flowers and vegetables. He loved to entertain in care centers and gave musical concerts up until the time of his illness. He dedicated the last 40 years of his life to his mother who died at the age of 105.

Survived by sisters, Norma O. Christensen, Murray; Mildred O. Shaw, Provo; brother, Myron L. Ottley and wife, Shirley of Murray, who cared for him during his illness; sister-in-law, Mrs. Owen (Betty) Ottley, Saratoga, California.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12 noon at Little Cottonwood 8th Ward, 855 East 6180 South. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 11-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
