Taylor Couple to Mark Golden Anniversary

Mr. and Mrs. George Shimo, 159 Oak St., Taylor, will mark their golden wedding anniversary Monday with a mass at 9 A.M. in St. John's Slovak Roman Catholic Church, Taylor.

Rev. J. A. Ondovchak, pastor, will celebrate the mass, assisted by Rev. Stephen Kollar, Holy Family Slovak Church, this city. A family breakfast will follow in St. John's Hall, Taylor. A reception will be held from 6 P.M. to midnight for relatives and friends at the hall.

The couple, natives of Czechoslovakia, was married Aug. 18, 1902, in Holy Family Church by the late Rev. Andrew Pavco. Mrs. Shimo is the former Miss Elizabeth Kandra. Mr. Shimo has operated a gasoline station near his home for the past 25 years. Prior to that he was employed in the mines.

There are 11 children: Mrs. Charles Carey and Joseph Shimo, at home; John, Elmer and Francis Shimo, this city; George, Matthew and Mrs. Joseph Skoviera, Endicott, N.Y.; Andrew and Mrs. John Podracky, Baltimore, Md., and Michael Shimo, Cleveland, Ohio. There also are 21 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
