Coy D. "Shorty" Barwick Sr., 68, of Marianna, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at his residence.
He lived most of his life here in Jackson County. He was a member of the Marianna Church of God. He retired from the Jackson County Road Department as a back hoe operator. He loved to go to church and sing and was a very faithful fisher of men for the Lord. He loved his very large family and his many friends.
He was survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Bonnie Mae Barwick, for a very short period after Shorty's death.
Survivors include his sons, Steve Allen Barwick and wife Cathy of Marianna, and Coy D. Barwick Jr. and wife Gwen of Marianna; daughters, Cynthia Dianne Jackson and husband Ervin of Chipley, and Sharon Lynn Burke and husband Herby of Marianna; brothers, Larry Carnley of Marianna, William Barwick of Blountstown, Rudolph Barwick of Marianna and Jack Barwick of of Marianna; sisters, Hazel Carnley of Greenwood, Frances Cobb of Marianna, Eloise Collins of Tallahassee, Doris Akins of Marianna and Joyce Jones of Marianna; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m., in the Marianna Church of God, with the Revs. Robert Johnson, Tony Hagan and Ron Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m., in the Marianna Chapel Funeral Home.
