Cynthia Ann Cummins was born in Dubois county, Indiana, February 14th 1840, and departed this life February 25, 1920, aged 80 years, 11 days, at Manhattan, Kans. .... She was married to Wm. McDonald, March 31, 1859. To this union eight children were born, four dying in infancy. In 1877 they moved to Kansas near Effingham where her sister and family resided. Later they purchased a farm near Soldier and lived in and near there for some thirty years. The oldest daughter, Mrs. C. C. Anderson, died in 1899 leaving an infant daughter which they reared to womanhood and was a great comfort to them. The oldest son, A. J. McDonald came about five years ago to be with his aged parents. In 1917 they moved to Manhattan to be near their two daughters and their families. The son and brother sickened and died the next year. The companion and aged father passed in less than five months .... The relatives persuaded her last summer to make a visit to Indiana, where she visited a brother, T. B. Cummins and family, and Mrs. John Robinson, a sister .... She leaves two daughters, Mrs. E. R. Rudy, Mrs. P. F. Rudy, of Manhattan, nine grandchildren, Mrs. Ivie Harries, of Cherryvale, B. H. and C. J. McDonald, of Jetmore, Mrs. Hazel Thaxton, Birmingham, Ala., Clatie Rudy, of Manhattan .... laid to rest in the family lot in the Soldier cemetery ....
