Alderman, Lou Margaret Murrell 83 08/08/1925 02/15/2009 Margaret Alderman died in Portland of natural causes. Born in Nebraska, she married Ralph H. Alderman, Sr. in 1942, and they had three children. Margaret is survived by daughter, Lynn M. Alderman; son, Ralph H. Alderman, Jr., four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1951; and daughter, Jean, in 1961. In 1955, she joined the Community of the Holy Spirit in New York City. In 1961, she became founder and member of the Sisters of St. Paul, an Episcopalian monastic community. In 1964, she converted to Catholicism and was a member of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. She served as prison chaplain, college administrator and teacher. After community life, she was a lay hermit for the rest of her life, working 10 years as a social caseworker in Child Protective Services and had a private counseling practice. She wrote spiritual literature and was a spiritual director for many persons. No services are being held per her request. She will be cremated and interred in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband and daughter. Remembrances to: Daughters of Charity Foundation, 26000 Altamont Rd., Los Altos Hills, CA 94022.
