Moses Havery Canon came in the Exodus Company from Mecklenburg county, North Carolina and settled near Victoria Mississippi in Marshall county. He and his brother Alfred Orville Canon were some of the ruling elders for the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. Both the brothers owned large plantations. Moses Harvey married Eliza Houston 6 August, 1839 in Mecklenburg county, North Carolina and they are buried beside each other with a shared headstone.
