Alfred Canon and his brother, Harvey Moses, were in the Exodus Company that came from Mecklenburg county, North Carolina to Red Banks, Marshall county, Mississippi. Alfred deeded the Philadelphia Presbyterian Church 5 acres of his land to build a building and cemetary. Later, due to a fire, I think, the church was moved brick by brick about 5 miles away. The cemetary is still in the original place.
