SPANISH AMERICAN WAR VETERAN

Edward Albert Beechwood was born January 11, 1876 in McPherson, Kansas. His Prussian-born parents were August and Amelia (Schefelbine) Beechwood.

MILITARY RECORD:
Enlisted April 25, 1898 in Aberdenn, South Dakota. Assigned to Company "F" of 1st Regiment, South Dakota Volunteer Infantry. Discharged January 12, 1899 in Vancouver, Washington. Pension awarded on Certificate No. 2550 891.

He remained in Washington state after his discharge and lived in Tacoma. He married Annie J. on May 22, 1901. The couple were admitted to the Washington Veterans' Home, where Mrs. Beechwood died in 1951.

He died in Seattle at the VA Hospital on October 29, 1962 and was buried in the Veterans' Home Cemetery in Retsil.
