Mabel was born and lived on the farm in Ludlow, MA. with grandparents, Simon and Margaret Dennis, most of the years. Married to first husband, Henry Cecil Butler, 1920, whom she said " really was not a marriage, he couldn't hold onto a dime." Then she married "Fritz" Hans Due Sommer, they had one son, Denny. Mabel and Hans bought a home and lived in Shreveport, LA. She worked as a hairdresser for many years. Then worked in a large retail store, until retiring worked as a Resident Assistant in Mobile, AL where her son practiced medicine..
Mabel married third husband in 1979, Milton Cook. Moved to Mobile, AL, mid 1980's, to be near her only son Denny Sommer. Glaucoma was blinding her, then later suffering with " senile dementia" in her 90's. As of December 1997, Mabel was 96 years old, and lived with Milton Cook.
Mabel was cremated. Her cremains are now with her husband Hans Due Sommer and son Hans Dennis Sommer. Her granddaughter Susan Reaves and grandson John Sommer held a Memorial on April 08, 2023 and interred both Mabel and Denny's cremains with their grandfather Hans Due Sommer.
Received copy of death certificate today, March 22 , 1999. Denny explained a mistake on her father's name being wrong. Under the impression it was Charles Dupont.This was her brother.
Her cremains are placed with Denny's father in Greenwood Cemetery, Shreveport, La.
