Nelson Gleason's Condition Bad
The condition of Nelson Gleason, who has been seriously ill for some months, is considered very critical. He underwent an operation Monday in the hopes of prolonging his life, and went through the ordeal satisfactorily. But yesterday a turn for the worse occurred, and he has been unconscious since.
Mr. Gleason has been suffering from diabetic gangrene, and his left leg was amputated Monday by Dr. Geo. M. Laughlin, 1 of the staff surgeons of the Still hospital at Kirksville, Mo.

Nelson Gleason was born October 14th, 1868, in Tioga County, Pa., and departed this life November 13th, 1922, at his residence over W 6th St., At the age of 54 years and 29 days. Mr. Gleason suffered an illness of sixteen weeks duration, during this time he was always patient and resigned.

A few years ago Mr. Gleason was converted and henceforth lived a consecrated and devoted Christian life as a member of the Methodist Church.

In 1887, Mr. Gleason was married to Ava M. Shaw of Stafford County, Kansas, where in happy union they lived until moving to Larned a few years ago.

Mr. Gleason was a devoted husband and father and leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, five sons and two daughters, John, Edwin, Bertle, Marie, George, Verne and Hazel. Besides the immediate family, three sisters and one brother and a host of friends mourn the loss of this loved one.

Mr. Gleason came to Kansas in 1877 as one of the early pioneers and was always a loyal citizen and conscientious worker for the morals of the community and city in which he lived.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church Wednesday at 2:00, conducted by Rev. W.L. Darby, Rev. J.E. Thackrey and Rev. C.J. Kirk. Burial was in Point View Cemetery.
