Abigail Lothrop, dau. of Samuel Lothrop and Elizabeth Scudder, b. May 11, 1665 at New London, Conn. She d. Dec. 2, 1746 at Coventry, Conn. while probably residing with the family of her youngest dau. Martha.

On Dec. 9, 1686 of record at Norwich, Conn., Abigail m. 1) John Huntington, s. of Christopher Huntington and Ruth Rockwell, b. Mar. 15, 1665/6 at Norwich. He d. before Oct. 1703 when the Connecticut General Assembly at New Haven gave the widow Abigail: "This court doth remitt to the widdow Abigail Huntington what is due from her estate to the Colonie by the seizure of the inspector of Norwich, provided what estate is left out of the list be now added."

John Huntington and Abigail Lothrop had five children of record at Norwich:

• i. Abigail Huntington, b. Feb. 19, 1686/7; m. Sheba Hall and res. at Mansfield, Conn. Twelve children of the family.

• ii. John Huntington, b. Apr. 20, 1688; d. in infancy Dec. 11, 1690.

• iii. Lieut. John Huntington, Jr., b. July 4, 1691, d. June 2, 1737 at Tolland, Conn.; m. Thankful Warner, dau. of Andrew Warner and Deborah Leffingwell. Six children of the family.

• iv. Hannah Huntington, b. Mar. 25, 1694, d. Jan. 18, 1761 at Windsor, Conn.; m. Joseph Rockwell, Jr., s. of Sgt. Joseph Rockwell and Elizabeth Drake. Seven children of the family.

• v. Martha Huntington, b. Dec. 9, 1696, d. Aug. 26, 1779 at Coventry, Conn.; m. 1) Sgt. Noah Grant, by whom she had four children, including Capt. Noah Grant, Jr., the gr. grandfather of Gen. & Pres. Ulyses Simpson Grant; m. 2) as his 2nd wife Capt. Peter Buell of Coventry, Conn. by whom she had five children.

On an unrecorded date likely at Windsor, Conn., Abigail m. 2) as their respective second spouses, her 1st cousin Dea. Samuel Baker, eldest s. of Jeffrey Baker and Joan Rockwell, b. of record Mar. 30, 1644 at Windsor where he d. Apr. 12, 1715. There were no children of this 2nd marriage.
