Julia M. Weigel November 18, 1919 - July 26, 2008
DANIELSON - Julia M. Weigel, 88, formerly of Danielson and presently of Chandler, AZ, died on Saturday at the Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, AZ. She was the wife of the late Steven Weigel, who died on May 29, 1969. Born in Easthampton, MA on Nov. 18, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Stefan and Mary (Novakowicz) Macina.

When she was an infant, she moved with her family to Rogers, CT. She attended the Goodyear School and graduated from Killingly High School in 1936. Upon completion of her education, she worked at the CL&P office doing bookkeeping, and remained there for fifteen years. Mrs. Weigel then worked in the business office at Acme Cotton in E. Killingly for a time, and then at the Edward LaChance Insurance Agency. Her final employment was at the State of Connecticut Dempsey Regional Center, until her retirement in 1984.

When Mrs. Weigel was in high school, she played on the basketball team. She was an RSVP Volunteer and also worked in the library at Killingly Intermediate School. She was an accomplished knitter and had a great sense of humor. Mrs. Weigel was a former member of the Connecticut State Employees Union. She was a communicant of St. James Church in Danielson.

She leaves two sons, James Weigel of Danielson and Robert Weigel and his wife Janet of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter Mary Ann Weigel of Mesa, AZ; a sister Helen Dziki of Dayville; two grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Stella Bachand and Dorothy Macina. Burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
