This is my step- gg grandma, this info came from a cousin on the Hammons side about Rebecca, "I guess the family called her Aunt Becky, because she was the second wife to Andy Hammons, after his first wife died. the photo that I have attached is dated Thursday, Oct. 31, 1929, shown as "Dad." I asked this cousin about her last name being McDaniel, she stated "I do believe it is McDaniel, I think she was married before, and Smith may have been a previous marriage. In Andrew Jackson Hammons obit it lists
Andy Hammons died Wednesday May 17, He was born May 24, 1860. Mr. Hammons married Mary Johnson on September 6, 1883 and to this union nine children were born, five boys, and four girls, all still living, also surviving are thirty-four grandchildren, twenty-two Great grandchildren, Three sisters and one brother, He was married to Rebecca McDaniel on November 12, 1928, Rev. Johnie Pruitt of Dogwood conducted funeral services, Thursday.
My mom, can remember Aunt Becky, as she was not born when her real grandma passed away.
The only way I could find Grandma Becky, was calling one of the great Aunts, she said that when grandpa died her family came back and took her to Washington, I put her name in under Washington, and I thank God for people that go and read the cemeteries, as he had her listed, they do have the last name spelled wrong.
