Son of Frank and Maltila(Plotter)Moreland.
OBIT:
J.E. Moreland was born in Moultry County, Illinois, July 18,1850, and died at his home six miles west of St. Andrews on April 23, 1909.

He came to Washington with his family in 1898 and settled six miles west of Rosalia where they lived two years, moving from there to Lake Creek, Idaho, where they resided until they came here four years ago. (Lake Creek is a subbasin of Coeur d'Alene, which is in the Idaho Panhandle)

He was married Jan. 9, 1873, to Miss Lizzie Webb and to this union was born thirteen children, eleven of whom, three daughters and eight sons, survive him. They are: Mrs. Ella Wright and Mrs. Elma Thew, of Spokane, and Miss Libby of this place; Frank, of Lake Creek, Idaho, Wilson, Of Rosalia, Andrew, of Edgewood, Ill., and Ed, Nute, Mell, Hurcshel and Raid, who reside here. All were present at his bedside except the son in Illinois.

Besides his wife and family he leaves to mourn his loss, one brother, Wilson of Malden, and two sisters, Mrs. J.F. Elldridge, of Rosalia, and Mrs. G.W. Hyland, of Spangle.

He united with the United Brethren church in 1904 and has been a faithful worker for Christ since that time.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 10 o'clock. Interment was made in the cemetery at St. Andrews.

Mr. Moreland will be greatly missed as a kind and loving husband and father and by his many friends and especially will he be missed in church and Sunday school, of which he was superintendent. We feel that he is only sleeping, safe in the arms of Jesus, safe in his gentle care.
