Burial will be in the new Hermon Cemetery south east of leedey, Oklahoma. Under the direction of the Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford Oklahoma.
Mr. Quattlebaum was born on January 2, 1903 in Leedey Oklahoma and he died at his home in Weatherford Oklahoma on June 24, 1990 after being in ill health the past seven months. Howard attended Pleasant Hill Rural School, and then received a diploma from the Leedey High School. He was married to Jesse mae Albritton on April 30, 1924 in Leedey Oklahoma. After a year at Southwestern State Teachers College he began teaching in the public school system. He later graduated with a B.A. and B.S. degrees at Southwestern College in 1928. He also received a Masters degree from Oklahoma University at Norman Oklahoma. He taught in the public schools for more than 30 years.
Howard was ordained to the Gospel ministry November 7, 1937 by the Moorewood Baptist Church. He did supply work for the churches which invited him and conducted services in many communities where there were no other service.
He wrote Sunday school literature a number of years for the Baptist Sunday School committee, Texarkana and Arkansas. He remained in the work of the church as long as health permitted.
After being married for 50 years, Jessie Mae Quattlebaum passed away on October 10, 1974. On December 22, 1987 he was married to Sue Alexander at Weatherford Oklahoma. After their marriage they made their home and Weatherford. Howard was a member of The Huber Street Baptist Church and also a member of the Senior citizens of Weatherford and Retired Teachers Association of Custer County and Dewey County in Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Quattlebaum of Weatherford Oklahoma. Two step sons, Brian Willemssen, of Newport,Rhode Island and Alan Willemssen, of Staten Island New York. One stepdaughter Grace Yoder of Thomas Oklahoma. Two step-grandchildren, Emily and Christopher Brown. Three brothers, Edward Quattlebaum of Leedey Oklahoma; Leonard Quattlebaum and Lloyd Quattlebaum both from Weatherford Oklahoma. Four sisters Ora Payne of Weatherford Oklahoma; Lola Stoddard, Leedey Oklahoma; Thelma Driver of Elk City Oklahoma,and LaVena Furnas,of Tulsa,Ok.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
