Mary Ellen (Schlegel) Sichler passed away suddenly of a heart attack, on August 1, 1959, at her farm home in Garden Valley at the age of 84 years.

Mary Ellen was one of triplet girls born to Mary and Joseph Schlegel on May 22, 1875 in the town of Irving, Jackson County. She was united in marriage with George Sichler on September 21, 1898 at St. Bridget's Catholic Church at Ettrick, Wisconsin, and went to live on the farm which has been her home to the time of her death. Her husband preceded her in death in June 1957.

Mary was known for her hospitality and was always ready to help anyone in need.

She is survived by three daughters, Anna, Mrs. Leo Giles [Gilles] of Alma Center, Helen, of Kenmore, New York; Esther, Mrs. Vincent Dwyer, Alma Center, and one son, Lawrence on the home farm. Also surviving are sisters Julia and Barbara Schlegel of Black River Falls; Helen Sholes of Black River Falls and one brother, Wensel of Melrose; two brothers, John and Edward preceded her in death. Father Frances McCaffery officiated at the Requiem Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church on Monday morning, August 3, 1959 at 9:30. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery beside her husband.
