Hal Stuart Evans, age 76, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 while enjoying the sun and warmth of Yuma, Arizona. Hal's family arrived in Yuma just in time see him off and to live with his Heavenly Father.

Hal was born November 25, 1932 in Parowan, Utah to Clefford and Adeline Lowe Evans. Hal was the 8th of nine brothers and sisters. Hal grew up in Parowan, graduated from Parowan High School and joined the Marine Corps and served during the Korean War. Hal attended the College of Southern Utah, University of Utah and Brigham Young University.

On June 7, 1957 Hal met the love of his life while registering for school at CSU, not only did Sherlene get him registered for school, she also married him. After their marriage, they moved to Salt Lake, bought there first home and started their family. Hal was working for Family Finance and was assigned to open an office in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They moved there and lived for three years returning to Salt Lake in 1970. Hal and Sherlene have three boys, Daren (Kamill), Riverton, Ut., Phil (Kim), Louisville, Ky., and Galen Evans West Jordan, Ut. Hal loved and devoted his entire life to his wife and three boys and their families. This was his life!

They lived in Salt Lake until 1993 when they retired and built a home in Parowan. Hal dreamed of building a family cabin at his favorite place on earth, Panguitch Lake. They purchased the property, began improvements and in July of 2008, the family cabin and there new home was completed. This was his dream and passion for the last several years of his life and was fortunate to live one full summer in the cabin.

Hal is survived by his wife, sons, daughters (He referred to them as his daughters) 8 grandchildren, Drew, Emily, Stattan, Hayden, Jason, Kallie, Taylor and Carson. and three great grandsons. His brother Dan Evans and sister, Val Rae Mumford. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jay Lowell, Ferris D., Warren, Dale and sister Alice Adams.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Parowan LDS 3rd Ward. Burial will be at the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary,
