Child Run Over By Wagon; Dies
A wagon passing over the body of little Warren George Evans, eight year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Evans of this city last Saturday evening caused his death a few hours later. Mrs. Evans and some of the kiddies had been with her brother Ernest's family and other neighbors and friends up to the Five-mile to spend the Fourth, Mr. Evans being away at the ranch in Deer Valley. They were returning in the evening and were within a couple of hundred yards of their farm home when the little one fell off and the back wheel passed over the middle of his body. He lived until near midnight. Mrs. Evans did not see him fall but looked around just in time to see him attempt to raise up in the road and then put his hand across his abdomen and fall back. He hadn't been feeling well for four or five days and it is thought that possibly an attack of dizziness may have caused hiim to fall or else he attempted to get off.
Funeral service was held on Monday afternoon from the West Ward chapel with Harley W. Dalton of the bishopric presiding. Speakers were S.A. Matheson, Walter C. Mitchell and L. Nelson Marsden. L.J. Adams sang a solo with quartet accompanyment. Ray Garner and L.J. Adams sang a duet and a quartet consisting of Ray Garner, Rula Decker, Florence M. Joseph and Wm. M. Dalton provided the other singing for the service. The opening and closing prayers were offered by Thomas K. Holyoak and David Matheson respectively and the grave was dedicated by Leonard Topham.
Besides his parents Warren is survived by a number of brothers and sisters. To the bereaved family the sympathy of the community is extended in the hour of their sorrow.
