Samuel P. Good, born and raised in Lincoln township and known all of his life among his wide circle of friends as just plain "Sam," died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Bausman, Bradenton, Fla., March 19, 1966.
Funeral services will be held at McNabb funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Lowell Allen, pastor of the Methodist Church, of which Mr. Good was a member for many years, will conduct the service.
Burial will be in Fairmount Cemtery. Sam was born July 21, 1866, son of Joseph and Ellen (Miller) Good on the farm in Lincoln township now owned by Harry Wolf. He was married to Minnie Dew who preceded him in death in 1958.
Mr. Good served as Buffalo township supervisor and in 1926 was elected sheriff of Ogle county in which office he served the full term of four years. He uncle, Petter Good, was sheriff in 1894 and his grandson, William, served a four-year term commencing in 1959.
In 1959, Mr. Good went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Bausman, spending his winters there and visiting his old time friends in Ogle county during the summers. His health was perfect until January of this year when he suffered several light strokes.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Bausman, Bradenton, Fla., Mrs. Imelda Drew, Waukegan; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
