John I. Cornelison was born at Manchester, Iowa, June 13, 1870 and died at his home near Lorimor, Iowa July 31, 1917 aged 47 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Mr. Cornelison came to Union County, Iowa with his parents when a child, where he grew to manhood.

He was married to Miss Jane Long, July 16, 1891. To this union 11 children were born, four having died in infancy. The names of the 5 sons and 2 daughters who with their mother survive are, Ernest, Warren, Ralph, Etha, Howard, Homer and Naomi. Brother Cornelison united with the Free Methodist class at Groesbeck school house near Lorimor in 1902 and for five years was the class leader. His Christian life was one of faithfulness and devotion to God and also to his family. He held the confidence and respect of the community. For more than a year he was a great sufferer, having been hurt in a runaway. He bore his suffering with patience.

Beside his immediate family he leaves a father, three brothers and one sister to mourn their loss. To his wife and others he testified of his readiness for death. The writer conducted the funeral at the family residence, August 2nd at 2 p.m. by reading Rev. 22:1-17 and 1 Thes. 4:13:18. Tex Isa. 64:6 "We all do fade as a leaf." The singing was conducted at the organ, by two ladies and two gentlemen, members of Emanuel church. Interment at the Lorimor cemetery.
