Death of Henry Mack.
News of Henry Mack's death, which occurred in Canon City a couple of days ago, was received in Salida last evening and caused a feeling of sorrow among his many friends in this town. Thursday's Canon City Express says:
"The news of Henry Mack's death is a shock to the whole community. The universal expressions of sympathy testify to the esteem in which he was held by all of the citizens. To accommodate his many friends, who wish to pay their last tribute of respect to his memory, the Methodist church has kindly been offered for the services. They will probably be held at two o'clock in the afternoon tomorrow."
Mr. Mack had been sick but a short time, we understand the cause of his death being pneumonia, which is so frequently fatal in this country.
Henry Mack was one of the early settlers in Salida. In fact he came here, as did many of our prominent business men, from the town of Cleora when it was moved up here bodily nearly two years ago. He engaged in the lumber and hardware trade, the house here being a branch of his business at Canon City. He was a man who had little to say and attended strictly to his own business, a good man whose death is a loss to the community in which he lived. Though it has been several months since he closed out his business in this town there are many warm friends here who deplore his death.

In Memoriam
The following account of a meeting held and resolutions adopted is from Friday's Canon City Express:
At four p.m. yesterday a large number of citizens gathered at Blake's hall for the purpose of expressing their sorrow in the death of Henry Mack. Mayor Campbell called the meeting to order and on motion T.M. Harding was elected secretary. E.T. Alling, Col. E.H. Sawyer and Dr. Craven were appointed a committee to draft resolutions and during the committee's absence appropriate remarks were made by Rev. E.C. Dodge, F.A. Raynolds, E.B. Alling, J.J. Phelps, Dr. Sawyer, P.A. Rice and others, Mr. Alling offered a resolution that the city officials attend the funeral in a body and that the band be requested to attend and render such services as may be agreeable to the family and immediate friends of deceased. The resolutions reported by the committee were read and adopted as follows:
WHEREAS, It has pleased God to remove from this life our fellow citizen, Henry Mack, therefore be it.
RESOLVED, that we hereby bow to the will of Him who doeth all things well.
RESOLVED, That we hereby record our sense of the exalted worth of our friend, not only as a public spirited citizen and an honorable business man, but especially as one whose social and religious life was above reproach.
RESOLVED, That we bear willing testimony to the purity and sincerity of his character, to his modest and kindly bearing, to his broad and uniform charity and to his hearty cooperation in every enterprise helpful to our common interests.
RESOLVED, That we cannot express too strongly the sense of our personal loss in this unlooked for bereavement.
RESOLVED, That we extend to the bereft family and kindred, near and far, our sincerest sympathy.
RESOLVED, That a copy of these resolutions be forwarded to the venerable mother and the stricken wife of our friend.
