Mr. Al Van Besien, 72, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at his home in Oxford, Miss.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 13, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church with Rev. Laura Gettys Officiating.
Visitation will preceed the Service from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at St. Peters Esiscopal Church.
He was a Professor of Geology and Geological Engineering at University of Mississippi.
He was born in Anamosa, Iowa and was a Graduate of Notre Dame.
He recieved his Masters from the University of Missouri and his PhD from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
He was Member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and an Associate Professor at the University of Mississippi.
He previously worked as Director of the U.S. Department of Energy, Carbondale Mining Technology Center.
Survivors include his Wife, Carol J. Van Besien of Oxford and two Sons, John C. Van Besien of Peterborough, NH and Matthew Van Besien and Wife, Rosanne, of Houston, TX.
