Homer was the son of Emil and Anna Mellenbruch Plamann. Homer married Charlotte Reents in 1924. Homer and Charlotte had one son, Marvin Plamann. Homer was the treasurer of the Hiawatha, Kansas Board of Education for 25 years, the treasurer of the Brown County March of Dimes campaign for 15 years and the treasurer of the Hiawatha Welfare Board for many years.
