---Mrs. Ada Covington Old Timer Here Dies in California---
Funeral services were held here on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Community Church for Mrs. Ada Covington who passed away at her home in Bishop, California, last Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Covington, a resident of Guernsey until 1942, when she left for California, was a pioneer of this community having spent nearly all her long life at Guernsey and immediate vicinity. She was one of the oldest residents of this neighborhood and with her husband, J. J. Covington, lived out their active lives here. Her husband passed away in 1937, but she continued to make her home here until 1942 when she moved to California to be near some of her children. Survivors are Mrs. Matt Winship, Lulu Hartford of Long Beach, California, Sara Hamilton of San Francisco, Bryce Covington of Kingman, Arizona, Mrs. Leon Blaine of Casper and Walter, Avery, and Claude of Bishop, California; 16 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Bob Winship of Sunrise is a grandchild.
It was her wish that she be brought back to Guernsey to be buried. Her daughters Lulu and Leone accompanied the remains here from California. Burial will be made in the Guernsey cemetery beside her husband. Mrs. Covington was in her late 80's, and her passing brings to a close a long and useful life. # # # Guernsey Gazette August 19, 1949 front page.
