Vesta Belle (Armstrong) Wilson, 95, passed away Feb. 21, 1998, at Central Washington Hospital.
She was born to Davis and Ella (Bennet) Armstrong in Omega, Okla., on Oct. 4, 1902. In 1922, she met and married Raymond J. Wilson. They came to Wenatchee in 1924, and since then they have been active in the community. Vesta and Raymond owned and operated the Blue Belle Dairy, which they started in 1928. Vesta worked for the early years of the business until Anita, her daughter, was born.
Vesta was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Wenatchee, and she had been a member for more than 74 years, longer than anyone else. She brought at least two bouquets of flowers every week to the church for at least 30 years. Vesta enjoyed teaching Sunday school and growing her own flowers in her garden. She loved to collect stamps and enjoyed collecting, polishing and making things from rocks. She was very hospitable, her doors were always open to all.
She made several trips to Israel and Europe and was very active in all she did because she didn't want to miss a beat. She delighted in all her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Garry and wife, Diane Wilson, of Bellevue; daughter, Anita and husband, Arvin Marchel, of Wenatchee; six granddaughters, 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond, in 1973; two brothers; and one sister.
Arrangements are by Jones and Jones Funeral Directors.
