William M. Hadden,b. 1827, son of Rev. Isaac Hadden, was reared in Alabama, where his father established and preached at several Presbyterian churches. William returned to his native South Carolina, practiced law in Anderson or Abbeville, enlisted in Orr's 1st South Carolina Rifles, rose to command of the regiment and was killed in action at Deep Bottom, Virginia in 28, July of 1864.
Does anyone know where he is buried? Based upon descriptions of the action, he was killed in an advance made by the unit, making it more likely that his body may not have been recovered. Any thoughts or leads? He is, I believe, buried on that field.

Good news: I just made a new military cemetery for the missing-in-action. There is a memorial for civil war here:

Gettysburg National Military Park.
Stone Avenue
Gettysburg
Adams County
Pennsylvania USA

There is no graves, but we have a memorial for the fallen. There was mostly union memorials with Find A grave, so I made this for our side of the ....follow the link below for the son William.

One note found claims that Isaac Hadden is the brother of Dr. Louis Hadden. No proof of this.
-----------
Another dau. of Isaac Hadden is Martha Jane. Married Samuel James Bingham on (April 12, 1843 or in Sumterville on 12th April 1853 by Rev. George W. Boggs).
-----------
In his will, he names four children: Robert Wilson Hadden, Laura Ann Eliza Hadden,William Mathew Hadden, Martha Jane Hadden.

Correction notes:
Was linked to a William Hadden(Memorial# 10224723) as Isaac's father that is younger than Isaac is.
Will you delete the link? I believe the correct dates for Isaac's father are 1769 to 1826. Please make this correction to avoid confusion. Thank you.Jan FAG#47101238
