Emery M. Cox.
Emery Melborn COX, son of Eldridge and Lucy Browing Cox, was born at Latimer May, 23, 1891, and died at Wadsworth Hospital, May 3, 1962. He attended White City, Kans., High School and Kansas State College. On Oct. 30, 1917 he was united in marriage to Edith ALEXANDER. In 1921 a son, Warren was born.
Mr. Cox served with the 210 Engineers in World War I and on the Selective Service Board of Jefferson County during World War II.
Mr. Cox was past commander of the American Legion and past commander of Jefferson County Barracks No. 1934 and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 690 at Oskaloosa. He was a member of the Christian Church.
For a number of years he was a contractor and plasterer in Lawrence.
About 1945 he retired to farm.
Besides his wife, Edith of the home and son Warren of Russell, he is survived by two grandchildren, Connie and William Emery, two sisters, Cora HARRISON, Louisville, Ky.; and Martha HADLEY, Palo Alto, Calif.; two nieces and two nephews.
