Mary Whitcomb was a daughter of Anthony Whitcomb and Lucy Wright Whitcomb. Her siblings were Rhoda Whitcomb Stubbs, Benjamin Whitcomb, Lucy Whitcomb Talbott Saxon, Derexa Whitcomb Morey, John Whitcomb, and Amanda Whitcomb Johnson.
Mary Whitcomb was the first wife of James Saxon, a son of Alexander and Mary Baldwin Saxon; they married in Preble County, Ohio on January 11, 1813. Their ten children were Benjamin Saxon, Alexander Saxon, James Robert Saxon, Lucy Saxon Woods, William A. Saxon, Charles W. Saxon, Robert F. Saxon, Oliver F. Saxon, John B. Saxon and Mary Saxon.
Perhaps two month old daughter Mary, sons Benjamin and John B., or twenty year old son Alexander are buried 'by her side' in Connersville's City Cemetery.
Mary's sister Lucy married widower James Saxon in Ohio on 10 April 1835. Their two children were Anthony Minor Saxon and Amanda C Saxon.
