Robert Donald "Bob" DeMott, 67, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, September 8, 2002, at Major Hospital.
Born October 25, 1934, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Chester Frank and Laura Ann Spurlin DeMott.
Survivors include two sons, Marc W. DeMott and Michael J. DeMott, both of Shelbyville; two daughters in law, Lu Ann DeMott and Delores DeMott both of Shelbyville, four grandchildren, Katie Matthews, Jeannie Matthews, Danielle Wolf and Richard Ramsey; and one great grandchild, Omar Matthews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Peggy J. DeMott.
Mr. DeMott was a lifelong Shelby County resident.
He graduated in 1952 from Mount Auburn High School.
He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict.
He was a mechanic at Columbus Airport, retiring in 1993. He previously had been a farmer until 1973 and owned DeMott and Sons Implements in Marietta until 1968. He also was a car salesman and owned a painting business.
Graveside services will be at 10 am Saturday in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County, with the Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
No visitation will be observed.
