Thomas blacker Dies in Ogden
Thomas Blacker, 76, former Star Valley resident died of blood poisoning at Mesa, Ariz. Thursday March 28. A resident of Rupert, Idaho, he was a brother of Mrs Maria Gardner and Mrs Earl (Fannie) Cazier of Afton.
He was born Dec 2, 1880 at Ferndale, Wales, the son of Edward and Merintha Loveday Blacker. He spent his early youth at Streator , Ill., then moved with his family to Almy, Wyo. where he worked in the coal mines. He came to Afton about 1897, where he made his home until about 1916 when he moved to Rupert, Idaho, where he has lived since. He spent the past four winters at Mesa, Ariz.
He was a farmer most of his life.
He married Hettie May Wilkes June 10, 1903 and 11 children were born to this union, one of whom preceded him in death. His wife died in Oct 1947 and he later married Luella Wilkes.
He was an active church worker in the LDS Church, always paid a full tithing and did a great deal of temple work.
Funeral services were conducted at Rupert Idaho Wednesday April 3. Burial was in the Rupert Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, Luella and the following sons and daughters; Thomas LeRoy, Alma, Earl, Verl, Mrs Horace (Afton) Hatch, Mrs Carl (Merintha) Gardner and Mrs Marie Green all of Rupert Idaho, Loyn, California; Frederick, Ontario Ore. George, Idaho Falls He has 45 surviving grandchildren, one brother and three sisters, Will Blacker, Washington; Mrs Merintha Williams, Rupert, Mrs Maria Gardner and Mrs Earl Cazier, Afton
Mr and Mrs Earl Cazier attended the funeral services.
