Funeral Service for Philinda Maria Reynolds Bowthorpe were held Tuesday at 12 noon in the Vernal second Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop John Hair. Mrs. Bowthorpe died at her home late Saturday of aliments incident to age. A profusin of Beautiful flowers adorned the casket of the departed mother at the Chapel. The opening prayer of the services was offered by E.J. Longhurst and the benediction was by Patriarch G. Bingham. Joseph Collier and Archie Johnson were the speakers with closing remarks by Bishop Hair. A mixed Quartet sang "Oh My Father," "Sister Thou Wast," "Mild and Lovely," and "Sometime We'll Understand." A duet, composed of Mrs. Mae Calder and F. J. Kennard, sang "Jesus is Calling," Mrs. Rose Walker sang a solo, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine." The Quartet consisted of Mr. Kennard, Arthur Manwaring, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Calder, accompanied by Mrs. Manwaring. Pallbears were grandsons of the deceased: Leroy, Von, Irvin and B. Simper, Leo Bowthorpe, and Adair Brimhall. The body was taken to Salt Lake were additional services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Holladay LDS Ward Chapel by Bishop George E. Cox of Mount Olympus Ward, Holladay. All the family from Vernal were in attendance at the burial. Mrs. Bowthorpe was born September 10, 1858 in South Cotton Wood, a daughter of Warren and Edna Merrell Reynolds. She was the widow of Nephi Bowthorpe who died in 1908. She had live in Vernal twenty years and had been active in the LDS Church. Surviving are three sons: Warren, Dennis and Harold Bowthorpe of Holladay. Five daughters: Mrs. Edna Simper, Mrs. Eunice Simper, Miss Mary Bowthorpe, and Mrs. Jennie Brimhall, all of Vernal and Mrs. Josie Workman of Holladay. 37 Grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial took place in the Holladay cemetery.
