Rites for Mrs. Jennie Craven Last Monday
-Mrs. Jennie Morrow Craven was born June 18, 1853, in Indiana, and died 2:13 p.m. July 17, 1940, at her home in Pender, at the age of 87 years and 29 days. Mrs. Craven had been in ill health for some time and complications of old age resulted in her death.
-She was married to Jesse T. Craven on Oct. 1, 1871 at Council Bluffs, Ia. She moved to this locality in 1896, which had since been her home although during the time she made several trips to California where she was a guest at the home of her children.
Mrs. Craven was member of the Church of Christ. Through all her difficulties she tried to have a Christian life and spent much of her time reading the Bible. She loved sacred poems and songs.
-She is survived by one son and three daughters; Robert E. Craven of Knoxville, IA; Mrs. T. C. Cruson of Fillmore, Calif.; Mrs. Gust Eyle of Simi, Calif.; and Mrs. J.H. Phillips of Pender. Seventeen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren were also left to mourn her passing.
-Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Pender Methodist Episcopal church, with Rev. L. Y[?]of Walthill, a former pastor, and Rev. Pearl Wallway of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery under the direction of Demme funeral service.
-Pall bearers were; W. F. Wenke, Geo. J. Lemmon, Dave Predmosky, Moris Rasmussen, H. G. Heyne and W. C. Murray.
-Those from a distance who attended the funeral services were John Morrow, Mrs. Chas. Eriewine and Mrs. L. Barnham, all of Woodbine, Ia.; Mrs. W. L. Perrin and family of Moorhead, Ia.; Miss Blanche Phillips of Los Angeles, Calif., Harold Phillips of Lost Hills, Calif., and Glen Phillips of Bakersfield, Calif.
