Barnabus (Barney) Cain was the son of James and Frances Singer Cain and came to Bartholomew County Indiana when he was 11 years old, then came to Owen County ten years later, where he bought forty acres of land, to which he added 200 acres. He was road supervisor for two years and for forty years he was a member of the Methodist church. He married Mary Ann Mounts in Bartholomew County Indiana January 26,1841, the Brother of Samuel Anderson Mounts who married Jane Cain, Barnabas' Sister.
