Mrs. Agnes Beard of Tracy, California passed away at her home Monday night, March 20.
Burial will be at Soldier, Kansas cemetery. Arrangements are not complete. She was a resident of Holton until late in 1967.

Mrs. Agnes Beard Dies in California
Mrs. Mary Agnes Beard, 72, died March 21 at her home in Tracey, Calif. She was a sister of Mrs. Albert Hay, Jr. of rural Onaga and Mrs. Lavina Lum of Havensville.
She was born April 13, 1899, in Denison and had lived most of her life in that community. She moved to Tracy six years ago.
Her husband, John P. Beard, died December 16, 1958.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marie Rapozo of Lathrop, Calif.; two sons, Robert E. Beard of Valley Falls and James A. Beard, Tracy, Calif.; another sister, Mrs. Edna Ridgeway, Burney, Calif.; eight grand children and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral sevices were at 10:30 Friday morning at Mercer Funeral Home at Holton with burial in the Soldier cemetery.

Mary Agnes Downie, second daughter of Thomas M and Margaret (McCrory) Downie, was born near Denison, Kansas, April 13, 1899 and died in her mobile home at Tracy, California, March 21, 1972.
She attended schools near Denison, graduating from the Brightside country school, and the Denison rural high school in the class of 1918.
Agnes then taught several years in country schools in Greeley County.
She was married to John P. Beard in the home of her parents, August 10, 1921. They moved immediately to John's farm northeast of Soldier, where they lived until 1931.
There their home was gladdened by three children who are now living and saddened by the loss of three little ones.
They moved in 1931 to a farm near Birmingham and after John's death, December 16, 1958 Agnes moved to Holton.
She spent considerable time in California each year with the two older children and because of health and climate conditions decided to make that her home.
In late November of 1967 her granddaughter Sandra Swank, came for her and drove through with her to California where she purchased a mobile home and lived last at Tracy.
In her youth Agnes was a member of the Reformed Presbyterian church at Denison and later joined the M.E. church at Soldier with her husband. While living in Holton she attended the Presbyterian church.
Her deep devotion to her husband and family sand their well-being were the main interests of her life.
In the later years her grandchildren were a source of much joy and happiness and their help and care made her life bright.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, John, three infant children, her parents, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Nonnast of Goff.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Marie Rapozo of Lathrop, California; two sons, Robert E. Beard of Valley Falls and James A. Beard of Tracey, California. Three sisters, Mrs. Lavina Lum of Havensville, Mrs. Edna Ridgeway of Burney, California and Mrs. Flora Hay of Onaga; eight grandchildren sand three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at Tracy, California in the Hotchkiss Chapel after which the body was flown to Kansas, accompanied by her granddaughter, Mrs. Sandra (Swank) Pendley.
Funeral services were held here at the Mercer funeral home on March 24 with burial at Soldier beside her husband and three little ones.
