Mrs. Edna L. Barnes
Ottawa-Mrs. Edna L. Barnes, 87, Ottawa, died Friday, Aug. 17, at an Ottawa hospital.
Mrs. Barnes taught in Franklin County schools several years and lived on her present farm east of Ottawa for 48 years.
She was born Sept. 23, 1896, at Omaga, Ill., the daughter of U. B. and Clara Elizabeth Eversole Daugharthy. She came with her family to a farm east of Ottawa in 1903, attended Ottawa schools and was graduated from Ottawa High School.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of First United Methodist Church, Liberty Social Hour Club, Senior Club and Just-A -Mere Club, all at Ottawa.
She was married to Benjamin Harrison Barnes Feb. 12, 1921, at Kansas City, Kan. He died June 27, 1974. She also was preceded in death by three sons.
Survivors include a grandson, Terry Barnes, Ottawa; two sisters, Mrs. Ila Tulloss, Utica, Ohio, and Mrs. Ruth Seymour, Pittsburgh; and three brothers, Beverly Daugharthy, Russell Daugharthy and Raymond Daugharthy, all of Ottawa.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Cemetery at Ottawa. Mrs. Barnes will lie in state from 9 a.m. Sunday until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home here where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
