On Thursday evening, December 2, Mr. Noble French, of Fortuna, and Miss Alma Self, whose whom is six miles north of Versailles, were married at the Methodist parsonage, Rev. W.H. Hargrove, performing the ceremony. Mr. Dallas Self, the bride's brother was best man, while Miss Marie Bass was the bride's maid. A few other relatives and friends were present. The bride and groom will make Fortuna their future home.

Noble S. French and Miss Alma Self were married at the Methodist parsonage in Versailles by W. H. Hargrove Thursday evening, December 2, 1920, at 8 o'clock in the presence of a few witnesses. The groom is a son of W.H. French and wife of near Excelsior and was born and raised in Morgan county. He is an industrious young man of exemplary character.
The bride is a daughter of L.B. Self and wife and has lived in this county for several years being a native of Virginia. She is a splendid young woman. The leader joins with the many friends of the happy young couple in wishing them a long and prosperous married life.
Alma and Nobel were later divorced. She never remarried.
She died at 2 a.m. on April 21, 1958, from a "Coronary Thrombosis," which lasted one hour. She was 70 years old.

"Mrs. Alma French Dies in California
California (Special) - Mrs. Alma T. French, 70, died Monday at her home in California. Mrs. French was born July 16, 1887, in Castlewood, Va., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Self. She was a member of the Freedom Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Raymond French of California: three brothers, Ezra Self, Versailles; Gilmer Self, El Segundo, Calif.; and Dallas Self, St. Louis; three sisters, Mrs. Quince Hayse, Versailles, Mrs. Nannie Fraley, Castlewood, Va., and Mrs. Bettie Langley, California; two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in a Versailles funeral home with the Rev. Paul Harvey of California officiating. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery."
