Dallas's obituary was published in the Versailles Leader-Statesman on June 5, 1975:

"Dallas Fletcher Self – Dallas F. Self, 77, of Syracuse, died Saturday May 31, at Bothwell Memorial Hospital in Sedalia, following an extended illness. He was born June 18, 1897, in Castlewood, Va., a son of the late Leonard and Ellen Counts Self. He was married on December 18, 1920, to Miss Marie Bass, who survives at the home.

Also surviving are one brother, Gilmer Self, El Segundo, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and six sisters.

Mr. Self was employed 35 years by the Rock Island Railroad Company, and was a member of the Syracuse Baptist Church.

Funeral Services were conducted Monday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, the Rev. Gary Payne officiating. Mrs. Gene Bartram sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "How Great Thou Art," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Alma Eickhoff. Pallbearers were Leonard and Oliver Stahl, R.V. Williams, Herbert Brauer, Lewis Smith, and Roscoe Yarnell. Interment was in the Versailles Cemetery."
