"H.E. Bowen, 70. Of Cedar Works
Chesapeake--Hayden Eugene Bowen, 70, of 4020 Highway 168, Great Bridge, retired superintendent of Richmond Cedar Works, died Tuesday in a Norfolk hospital after illness of three days.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was the husband of Mrs. Florence Dews Bowen and a son of Joseph and Mrs. Minnie Bowen. He lived here 45 years.
He was a Methodist, and was in the Navy Air Corps during World War I.
He was a member of South Norfolk Masonic Lodge 339, Berkley Masonic Lodge 167, Ionic Royal Arch Chapter 46, Grice Commandery 16 of Knights Templar, and Khedive Temple.
Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Donald E. Bowen of Pontiac, Mich., and two grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted in Graham Funeral Home Friday at 11 A.M. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of Mrs. James Odom of 815 Freeman Ave."
