Eileen "Ike" Lewis

Eileen Marie Lewis, the daughter of George and Hazel (Mumby) Mewes, was born on January 16, 1935, in Williams, Nebraska. She passed away on March 16, 2009, at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 74 years, two months.

Eileen graduated from Fairbury High School and was united in marriage to Marvin Lewis, on November 12, 1954, at the Methodist Church, in Fairbury, Nebraska. This union was blessed with five children: Tony, Charles, Michael, Sandra and Cynthia. She was a cook for several years at Nederland High School in Colorado. Also, while in Nederland, Eileen and Marvin were the owners of Marvin's Garden, a restaurant which they operated together for 18 years. While in Hebron, Eileen cooked and baked pies for the sale barn and Monday night Bingo at the VFW. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and was president for the past few years. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hebron, Nebraska. Eileen's passion in life was her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Lewis on March 13, 1997; parents, George and Hazel Mewes; and sisters, Arlene Mewes, and Roberta Jaycox. She is survived by her children: Tony M. Lewis of Hebron; Charles E. Lewis and wife, Barbara of Hebron; Michael G. Lewis and wife, Beth of Urbana, MO; Sandra L. Moauro and husband, Chris of Longmont, CO; and Cynthia G. Hauser and husband, Steve of Black Hawk, CO; 12 grandchildren: Shawna Lewis; Cheri Lynn Price and husband, Jason; Christine Marino and husband, Joe; Breanna Lewis; Casey Lewis and wife, Savannah; Jason Lewis; Randy Lewis and wife, Jacy; Ryan Lewis; Rebecca Lewis; Brittney Moauro; Lyndsey Moauro; and Tyler Lewis and husband, Jeremy Dahm; 14 great-grandchildren: Phillip, Trea, and Naomi Price; Aubre, Harley, Hope, Faith, Grace, Lewis, and Charity Marino; Ireanna Rico; Amira and Raegan Lewis; and Haley Dahm; three brothers: Glen Mewes and wife, Connie of Wymore, NE; Harold Mewes and wife, Linda of Meridian, ID; and Alvin Mewes and wife, Peggy of Montrose, CO; one sister, Twila Collins of Beatrice, NE; many other relatives and friends.
